The first thing I would do is get your VA pre approval started. Not a vague online estimate. A real conversation with a lender who handles VA loans regularly. You want to know your comfortable payment, your closing cost picture, and how your BAH fits before you start comparing houses. Next, think through your commute. Madison is popular for schools and newer neighborhoods. South Huntsville can be very convenient to the Arsenal and has established homes with character. Hampton Cove feels a little quieter and more tucked away. Meridianville, Hazel Green, and Harvest can give you more space, depending on your budget and timing.
